Currently, modifying the textInput background color in MessageComposerConfiguration also affects the background color of the send button. There is no dedicated prop to change only the background color of the text input field above the divider line.
Request a new prop (e.g., textInputBackgroundColor) that allows customization of the text input’s background without impacting other elements like the send button. This will provide greater flexibility in UI customization.

We’re happy to let you know that starting with cometchat_chat_uikit: ^5.0.1, you can now customize the background color of the text input field independently.

To achieve this, please use the CometChatMessageComposer component and configure the background color via the messageComposerStyle prop. Specifically, you can use the filledColor property inside CometChatMessageComposerStyle to target and style just the input field—without affecting other UI elements like the send button.

Here’s a quick example:
