Add Local Caching Mechanism to Improve Chat Load Performance in CometChat React Native UI Kit
Opening a conversation in the CometChat React Native UI Kit currently triggers a full reload of messages from the server each time, resulting in slower load times and a less responsive user experience. In a real-time chat application, users expect conversations to open instantly with previously viewed messages readily available. The lack of a local caching mechanism leads to repeated network calls and unnecessary data fetching, even for recently accessed chats. Introducing a local caching mechanism to store recent conversations and messages on the device would allow chats to load instantly while syncing with the server in the background. This would significantly improve performance, reduce latency, and provide a smoother and more seamless user experience, especially in low or unstable network conditions.
Option to Hide User Join/Leave Banners in Ongoing Call Screen
We would like to request a new feature in the CometChatOngoingCall screen. Currently, the ongoing call UI displays banners/notifications such as “User joined” and “User left” during a call. We would like the ability to hide or disable these banners based on our application’s requirements.
Add option to completely disable long-press functionality for message bubbles.
In android UI KIT, the Message List component, there is no direct method to completely disable the long-press functionality on message bubbles. This leads to an inconsistent user experience, especially in scenarios where developers want to restrict user interactions with message bubbles entirely. It would be highly useful to have a dedicated method or flag that allows developers to fully disable the long-press functionality and its associated animation for message bubbles.

Rich Text Formatting in Message Composer -React Native Uikit
Introduce the ability to apply rich text formatting (e.g., bold, italics, underline, unordered lists, etc.) selectively within individual messages in the React Native UIKit Message Composer. This feature would allow users to format specific words or phrases within a message before sending, improving readability and enabling better expression. Importantly, formatting should be applied at a granular level (word or phrase), without altering the styling of the entire message.
Filter the users if the string typed in the search input is included in the username or UID.
In the CometChatUsers component, when a user types a string into the search input, it matches the characters one by one with the username or UID. If any character typed does not matches with the uid/username, it does not populate the list. For example, if there are two users named "user2" and "2user," typing "2" will only display "2user" in the list, not "user2." What is needed - If the searched string is included in any of the username or uid the list should get populated.
WhatsApp like message replies feature in Chat Widget
A feature that enables users to reply to specific messages, similar to how replies are displayed in WhatsApp. The replies will be shown in the MessageList with clear context, allowing users to see which message was replied to within the conversation.
Ability to Programmatically Scroll to a Specific Message by Message ID
It would be helpful to have a method that allows developers to programmatically scroll to a specific message within the chat UI using the message ID. This feature would improve user experience by enabling seamless navigation to important or referenced messages in a conversation.
@channel/here equivalent for CometChat Groups feature
Similar to slack, a feature to notify all users in a group. Specifically, send a push notification to the users who only have notifications enabled for mentions. This channel tag, would work like a mention for everyone in the group
Disable Notifications for Edited/Deleted Messages in Chat
Provide an option to turn off push notifications for when messages in chats are deleted or edited. Currently, there is no way to turn this off. User’s can receive a pn for messages modified weeks ago.
Mark as unread" option in React Native UIKit v5
The Mark as Unread feature allows users to set a conversation or message back to an unread state after opening it. This helps users keep track of chats they want to revisit later or respond to at a more convenient time. By marking a conversation as unread, it will continue to show as pending attention in the chat list, providing a better user experience and ensuring important messages are not missed.
Get Unread Message Count in Push Notification
Include the unread message count in the push notification payload to allow real-time badge updates and reduce the need for additional API calls when a notification is received.
Whatsapp Like reply Feature
We are looking for an easier way to reply and simply quote the original message. You click on reply, the original message is display in quotation marks and graphics and you type in your response. There is no thread as such, which mean a separate chat based on the origin message.
Disable shadow blocking and give moderation information in the SDK/UI Kits
It would be very helpful, if the reason for the rejection of the message is available to the developers at the SDK/ UI Kit level
